The Path to Effective Social and Emotional Learning

The Path to Effective Social and Emotional Learning

Social and emotional skills are crucial for success in both school and life. CSSSH aimed to enhance these skills by testing the moozoom platform in three schools, with the help of researchers. This document is a guide for schools and staff to see the impact moozoom had when it comes to helping students and staff work together to understand and manage emotions.

The overall findings found that effective implementation of a social and emotional learning (SEL) program in schools greatly depends on strong leadership. Also, schools that implemented the program collaboratively on a school-wide basis had more positive outcomes regarding well-being and behavioral management. Finally, it was found that moozoom platform's flexibility makes it a valuable tool for integrating social and emotional skills into the classroom, supporting various activities and interventions, as emphasized by a teacher's testimonial.

Lessons on differences led to the most impactful conversations

One of the most impactful class discussions happened 17 years into my teaching profession after completing a mooZoom module on “Differences.” Students were reminded that some of us learn differently than others and that it can be challenging to know what to say or do to make peers feel accepted for their differences. This was something my class at the time was surely struggling with.
